I wasn't busy enough...
Aug. 1st, 2014 12:43 am...so I went and won Camp NaNoWriMo, the April and July versions of the writing challenge. To be fair, as you're allowed to do anything from scripts, novellas and editing, I started with the 40-odd thousand words of my WIP and set a target of 65k. In between that I had day job stuff, a jaunt to Glasgow and query angst. And I validated my word count with FIVE MINUTES TO GO.

Yeah, it's on my Old Faithful XP box. Yeah, I had to stop with cramp because I'd done 4k words today and was working right up to the last minute. Yeah, most of it will be shite. But, more novel! Also, 50% off Scrivener, so now I can throw this bad boy in there, give it meaningful/silly chapter names and drag a plot out of the thing. Woop!
And, my wrangling with the passport gods aside, I'll be in London for the weekend to celebrate with the lovely birthday girl

Date: 2014-08-01 01:10 pm (UTC)- I applied for a new passport in my married name, so I could update details on things like my driving licence easier.
- The passport office went on strike.
- I made the flight bookings in my married name, not knowing the fact above.
- They still like a form of photo ID at the airport. That ID is in my maiden name, which doesn't match the booking.
- I spent over an hour total on the phone to Bangalore where, among other hilarities, nobody understood my rapidly-returning accent, I was spoken down to, they asked me for 'your husband's maiden name', claimed they couldn't see the marriage certificate scan I emailed because 'the emails are on another computer system' therefore more time on hold, and after shouting at them over insisting I pay the 69p increase in tax by debit card and having it waived, they now have my name on the booking as 'Mrs Laurajane [maiden name]' which doesn't match my driving licence.
I hope that answers your question and explains why I'll have to go to the airport early to throw things at people. In a supreme twist of irony, I got a text announcing my new passport is on its way just as I was sorting this out. Ah well, that makes the other two flights this month easier... :P
